Batman approaches people for his team.  He looks for those who are dissatisfied in their current positions, dissatisfied because their skills or expectations are greater than what their job offers them.  This page is devoted to Amy Ross, an analyst for the FBI, and Seth shows us her employer in the top frame, her feelings about work there with her body language in the second frame, and the amusing first meeting of her and Batman in the bottom section of the page.  Seth wanted to stretch what he could do with Batman as far as his editors would permit.  He wanted to allow his superheroes to be more human, not quite such icons of perfection and fearlessness.  A little silliness, a little discouragement, some signs of bad judgment, these were qualities Seth wanted to indicate in his pictures, to add some layers of humanity to these ordinarily invulnerable figures.
